This is the I 10 bridge over Lake Pontchartrain going in New Orleans. Big parts of the rail were missing. There were also huge parts of the bridge that had been replaced with metal rails and what looked like tar paper nailed onto the road. It made a horrible noise with the Coach going over it. This picture makes you wonder what is behind and under that Jersey wall. It was scary to cross.
New Orleans is my favorite city! This is sad! What a mess! This is 6 months after Katrina, and some of this debris along the highway is actually clothing. We were going to try to go to a Mardi Gras parade but decided against that idea. The city was jam packed. Don't let anyone tell you there is no one in New Orleans.
