Daytona RV Rally

WOW! What a week!! Here we are lined up to enter the Daytona Speedway for the week! We met some GREAT people and had a blast!

We both got to drive a Fleetwood Diesel Motorcoach around the track. That was the highlight of the week.

Tim and Steve O'Brien standing in turn one at Daytona Speedway! It is very hard to see the slope in a picture.

Trish on turn one. Trying to show the slope. She happened to be in Orlando and came up for the day to visit.

Tim and Trish. It was so steep the only way for Trish to get down was to slide on her feet and bottom!! :) Knowing Trish, you know it is steep when SHE has to do this to get down! :)

After watching Trish this was as high as I was going up turn one! :)

Tucker also made two Huskie friends at the Rally!! You can see only Tucker's tail to the left!

Winnebago Itasco Travelers Palmetto State Club

On our way home we realized that the Palmetto Winnebago State Club was camping very close to home, Eutawville, SC. We decided to stop and camp with them for a few days. There were about 16 coaches. Here are a few of our WIT friends.
Patsy, Andrea, George, Ham, Nita and Helen

As always we really enjoy camping with the State WIT Club!!!

Land Between the Lakes, TN & KY

Patti's Settlement Restaurant is one of the best places we have eaten. It beats a lot of 5 star restaurants. It is located at the northern end of Land Between the Lakes.
We have now added 2 more states to our map on the side of the coach.
This is our campsite at the northern end of Land Between the Lakes. It was on Lake Kentucky.

Memphis, TN

There are five little ducks in the fountain at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis, TN. They are brought from the roof every morning at 11:00 to swim in the fountain.
At 5:00 pm they walk the red carpet with the duck master to the elevator and are taken up to the roof to the Duck Palace.

Dallas, Texas

Boots that the Texas clan helped us pick out in Plano, Texas. Mine are the black bottoms and Tim's are the brown bottoms! :)
Kev and Ken had brunch for us out by their pool.

Dallas, Texas - South Fork

After Brunch Kev and Ken took us to South Fork!! Ken, Kev, Patti and Tim in the living room at South Fork. We are in front of Jock's picture above the mantel.
The three amigos, Tim, Kev and Ken, on the porch at South Fork!
This property was beautiful. You could just see JR and SueEllen there out by the pool.
First we all approached the longhorn steer. He was nice. Then Kevin decides he is going to pet the horse at South Fork. That is when the horse decides that he did NOT like Kev. He had Kev for lunch! Bit him right on the arm!! It didn't break the skin but for a while we thought we were going to spend the rest of the day in the hospital!

Austin, TX

We drove up to Austin from San Antonio in the car. This is the capitol building in Ausin. We spent the day in Austin and driving around the Texas countryside. Fredericksburg was a nice little town and Bandera was located in beautiful hilly country! However, Bandera labeled the Cowboy Capitol left a lot to be desired.

San Antonio, TX

Tim and I ate lunch at River Walk in San Antonio, TX. The food was delicious. I had a shrimp, bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich! WOW! This was a beautiful place with lots of restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the afternoon here.
The Alamo was fasinating!! We loved going through and listening to the speakers. Tim being a history buff really liked this. Before we went through the Alamo, we went to the IMAX movie The Alamo. It was very factual and helped me understand what happened there a little better.

Houston

After Tim drove all day in a horrible rain storm from Baton Rouge to Houston, we decided to stay in Katy, TX just on the other side of Houston.

Baton Rouge, LA

Geaux Tigers!! Tucker and Tim watch Mike, the LSU Tiger walking around in his NEW digs!! This is Mike's new swimming hole! LSU has an atheletic pit. All the sport arenas are in the same location on campus. Mike's cage, with air conditioned building, is right in the middle of it all. The Pete Marivich Basketball Arena can be seen in the background. The football stadium is across the street from Mike.
This is Mike! He did NOT like Tucker. He had circled about 6 times and just glared at Tucker before I took this picture. After I took this picture, I put the camera away. Mike immediately turned around, squatted down and "SPRAYED" at Tucker and Tim. It was halarious! You can see how close they were to him. Tim jerked Tucker back just in time. I saw that stuff spraying everywhere. It was like putting your thumb on a water hose! :) I wish I had had the camera out!! :0

New Orleans

This is the I 10 bridge over Lake Pontchartrain going in New Orleans. Big parts of the rail were missing. There were also huge parts of the bridge that had been replaced with metal rails and what looked like tar paper nailed onto the road. It made a horrible noise with the Coach going over it. This picture makes you wonder what is behind and under that Jersey wall. It was scary to cross.
New Orleans is my favorite city! This is sad! What a mess! This is 6 months after Katrina, and some of this debris along the highway is actually clothing. We were going to try to go to a Mardi Gras parade but decided against that idea. The city was jam packed. Don't let anyone tell you there is no one in New Orleans. If you double click any of these pictures they will enlarge.

Snowshoe, West Virginia

As a retirement gift, the people that worked for Tim at Ecolab gave us four days at Snowshoe, WV. As you can see, it was beautiful, and we really enjoyed the snow, fireplace in the room, shopping and the wonderful restaurants. As a side trip we went down to Cass for the afternoon to see the Scenic Railroad! Now that is a true WV mountain town. Of course the railroad was closed, but we had taken the train to the top of the mountain years ago when the kids were little! Tuesday we leave for Texas.

Mayan Ruins of Tulum

Here are Patti and Tim at the Mayan Ruins in Quintana Roo, Mexico. This is inside the walled city of Tulum. The weather was very hot even with the clouds. The temperature was 90 the day we were there. I cannot imagine going there in the summer!! It is a very beautiful place as you can see with the Atlantic in the background.

Panama Canal

This was a wonderful 10 day trip through the Panama Canal. There was only a 2 foot clearance on each side of the ship. The ship also visited Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica, Cozumel and Grand Caymen. We had already been to Jamaica and Grand Caymen. Therefore in these ports we rested and shopped (to my advantage.) I found some beautiful Black Coral!!! It rained in the Rain Forest at Limon. We got to see 2 slothes--a 2 toe and a 3 toe. The two toe was eating. That was really fasinating!! In Cozumel we took a ferry to Playa del Carmen and went to see the Mayan Ruins at Tulum! These ruins were political and ceremonial. Some of the 'house' foundations were left also.

February we will be going to Snowshoe, WV for a week. I will try to send pictures from there.
