Pergamum, Turkey

This is the Library which was one of the greatest in the ancient world. It had some 200,000 volumes. When a shepard was grazing his sheep, the grass would not grow in this area. When they began digging they found Pergamum and this theater area constructed about 170BC.
The lower levels of Pergamum was a health center with vents where they could listen to the patients. These are the hallways.
Acropolis of Pergamum. Pergamum was built on terraces on a precipitous mountain, 1165 feet above sea level. Temple of Athena and Zeus. Pergamun had no less than 5 palaces and five theaters. Built 200 BC.
Beautiful!!
